Montie FM Sued Over Judges Death Threats

A Ghanaian citizen, Richard Asante Yeboah has sued Accra based Montie FM for contempt of the Supreme Court over alleged death threats against Ghana’s judges.
Two panelists of Montie FM, Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako Gunn allegedly threatened to unleash mayhem on Supreme Court and High Courts judges if they make any judgment against the Electoral Commission.
Mr Yeboah in his suit, argued that “the two knew the contemptuous nature of their statements when they stated that the court can jail them and that they were ready to go to jail.”
He is therefore praying the court to “commit the two for contempt of court.”

“The comments are very dangerous and also dangerous to the lives of our citizens. I am asking that the Supreme Court apply the necessary sanctions, according to the law, to these individuals because looking at their conduct, one realizes that these comments were made deliberately and it was an attempt to undermine the dignity of the court. These individuals were ready to cause mayhem and indeed they said it. They have purposed in their minds and hearts to cause mayhem so I expect that the court will deal with these individuals,”Mr. Yeboah further explained on Eyewitness News.
He believes the move will serve as a deterrent to others.
