BECE candidate drowns after final paper


A candidate who just completed writing the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) has died at Adansi Anhwiaso in the Ashanti region.

17-year-old Aminu Dawuda, a student of Redeemer International School drowned in a river after he and his friends had gone swimming to celebrate a successful completion of exams.

Adom News’ Isaac Normenyo, who was at the scene, reported that the bank of River called Aprakum has been turned into a resort where residents go to enjoy themselves on holidays.

So the candidates, he noted, went swimming in the river, but Aminu drowned in the process.

Some of the residents who were at the Riverside rescued him and rushed him to the Adansi Anhwiaso clinic but was transferred to the New Edubiase Government Hospital.

Aminu Dawuda was however pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. His body has been deposited at the hospital morgue pending the autopsy.
