The inauguration which took place over the weekend was the fourth in four consecutive months after new chapters were also launched in Luton, Northampton and Nottingham in March, April and May respectively.
This according to the Chairman is a key part of the Branch's election strategy of reaching out to Ghanaians wherever they are and encouraging them to be part of the agenda for positive change in Ghana.
Mr. Ansah praised the leadership of the chapter for their hard work, dedication and sacrifices in establishing and growing the Swindon Chapter. He noted that for the first time, the membership of the branch party has grown to more than a thousand across the UK and paid tributes to the branch and chapter executives for their devotion which made such a landmark achievement possible.
He bemoaned the level of corruption in the country adding that 'an NPP government will be one that will work hard for all Ghanaians and not just for a few who are connected to people in high places'.
He also expressed concern at the manner in which the NDC has destroyed the economy from the level that the NPP government under President John Agyekum Kufuor left it some eight years ago and urged all members and sympathisers to take the message of hope the party's Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo has been conveying, to their people in Ghana. He challenged everyone present to see themselves as agents of positive change in Ghana and volunteer to go home and work for that change.
In his welcoming address, the Chairman of the chapter, Mr. Christian Noonoo observed that Swindon Chapter prides itself in having more than 90% of the members with military backgrounds. He noted that several members of the chapter have volunteered to go home and work for change and a key part of their role will be to help at the polling stations on election day.
The Branch Secretary, Dr. John Kissi applauded the founding members of the Chapter for their devotion through thick and thin which has eventually led to the establishment of one of the most vibrant chapters in the UK. He presented certificates to them and noted that the NPP always acknowledges and recognises the people who make sacrifices to advance the course of the party. He urged other members to emulate the founding members and identify which area they can also contribute towards the development of the party.
The Western Regional Secretary of the party, Mr. Charles Bissue congratulated the Chairman and executives of the branch for establishing chapters and noted 'indeed the team has delivered on their campaign promise, by expanding the party's base in the UK'.
He observed that in the NPP, our reward for joining a political party is to see our community and country do better, adding that even those whose work schedules will not permit them to work on ground to secure victory can all do their bit here by speaking to relatives back home as this effort will translate into real votes in Ghana.
Present at the function were the Parliamentary Candidate for Hohoe, Mr. Marlon Anipa, branch executives: 1st Vice Chairman; Richard Dombo, 2nd Vice Chairman; David Yianoma, Treasurer; Kofi Debrah, Financial Secretary; Ray Ankrah, Organiser; Saeed Duah, Deputy Organiser; Kweku Nkansah, Youth Organiser; Aisha Nimoh and Deputy Communication Director; Nana Ansah Obofour, and other senior branch and chapter members/executives.
