The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) says its message ahead of the November 2016 polls is “essentially peaceful rather than divisive.”
NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, said the party will desist from speeches and actions that will jeopardise the stability and peace of the country in the pre-and post-November election periods.
The NPP leader disclosed this to supporters of the party in the Agona East Constituency of the Central Region where he has been campaigning.
Akufo-Addo was recently in the Greater Accra Region where he promised residents of a vibrant and prosperous economy when he is voted into office.
“The NPP has done it before,” he said adding the party has the men to turn the fortune of the country around.
He also charged promises made by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) have all gone unfulfilled.
Addressing the cheering crowd, the three-time NPP leader said the party will insist on peace at all times without which the fruit of the economy could not be enjoyed.
“The NPP as you know will not bring tensions to Ghana,” he said adding “Our message in this election is about peace.”
He, however, noted the NPP will not allow anyone whatsoever to temper with the result of the election.
“This year we are telling everyone that any attempt to rig the election, here in the Central region will fail,” he said in Twi.
To achieve this end, Akufo-Addo entreated party supporters to “help the NPP in this pursuit.”
